Role Overview
The Product Manager is responsible for defining what Inventeer builds and why—turning market signals, customer needs, and business goals into a clear product direction and a prioritized roadmap. This is an outcomes role: success is measured by shipping the right things, reducing wasted effort, increasing adoption/value, and keeping teams aligned on priorities and tradeoffs. The PM partners closely with Engineering and Client Support to maintain a tight loop between real-world feedback and product evolution.
Key Responsibilities
Product Direction & Prioritization
- Define product goals, positioning, and success metrics for assigned products or product areas.
- Own prioritization: continuously decide what is next, what is later, and what is not worth doing.
- Maintain a roadmap that balances customer value, engineering constraints, and business objectives.
Requirements & Clarity
- Convert goals into clear requirements: user stories, acceptance criteria, constraints, and edge cases.
- Write and maintain lightweight PRDs/specs that engineers can execute without ambiguity.
- Ensure each initiative has a clear Definition of Done and measurable outcomes.
Discovery & Feedback Loops
- Gather input from customers, Client Support, Sales/Marketing, and internal stakeholders.
- Run discovery: interviews, workflow observation, competitor/market scans when relevant.
- Translate feedback into decisions (not just lists of requests), and communicate rationale clearly.
Release Planning & Go-to-Market Support
- Coordinate release readiness from a product perspective: messaging, documentation needs, and rollout plans.
- Partner with marketing/website owners on product positioning, pages, and launch assets.
- Ensure post-release learning: adoption signals, issues, and improvement backlog.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work daily with Engineering to align scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
- Keep stakeholders informed with clear updates: decisions, risks, and timeline impacts.
Required Technical Skills
- Proven experience defining and shipping digital products (not just managing backlogs).
- Strong ability to write clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Strong prioritization skills using impact/effort thinking and clear tradeoff communication.
- Comfort working with technical teams (you don’t need to code, but you must understand constraints).
- Strong communication skills (written + verbal) and stakeholder management.
- Basic analytics literacy (funnels, activation, retention, qualitative signals).
Nice to Have
- Experience in workflow-heavy products (operations tools, internal tools, productivity systems).
- Experience working closely with support to reduce support load via product improvements.
- Familiarity with multi-tenant products, permissions, roles, and auditability concerns.
- Experience with AI-assisted product features or content/knowledge systems.
Behavioral Expectations
- Outcome obsession: optimizes for value delivered, not output volume.
- Decisiveness: makes priority calls and owns the consequences.
- Clarity: removes ambiguity; produces specs engineers can implement confidently.
- Customer empathy with business sense: balances user needs, speed, and strategy.
- Trust-builder: communicates transparently and avoids surprise changes.
